Y'alls Hairs is Cute!

When I was in college my BFF Prissy and I had criz-zay-zee colored hair.  Every time we visited our local Wal-Mart (don’t judge) this guy who worked on the registers would abandon his post to come and tell us, in a very thick southern accent, “Y’alls hairs is cute!  I like y’alls hair!”  We thought it was hilarious!  HE DID IT EVERY TIME!  Now I love a good compliment, but there is no need to risk your job over it.
I have to admit I can understand his zeal.  He was excited about something he couldn’t have, or at least thought he couldn’t have.  That’s a similar way I feel when I see ladies with giant hair in period films.  I’m fascinated by the majesty and engineering of the feat.  Here are some examples of hair that makes me sit up and smile.
Demi Moore in "Bobby" hair stylist - Mitchell Stone

Keira Knightley in "The Duchess" hair designer - Jan Archibald

Tilda Swinton in "Orlando" hair designer - Jan Arichibald again

Cecil Beaton loved big hair!
Brabra Streisand in "On A Clear Day You Can See Forever" hair stylist -  Harry Glaser
Audrey Hepburn in "My Fair Lady" supervising hair stylist - Jean Burt Reilly

Norma Shearer in "Marie Antoinette" hair stylist not credited

Nightclub dancers in "Sweet Charity" hair stylist - Larry Germain
Philip - In Brooklyn

  1. That guy was crazy wack, I think at somepoint we were like, "NO EYE CONTACT!" and tried to sneak past him...until we had to check out!

  2. Just think how you two brightened his day.

Big hair is great. For the most part in movies, they were wigs and hair weaves. But just think how long it took with the creativity when they actually do it from scratch full 100% heads of hair in the modern day contests..
